A Simple 10-Minute Football Routine Players Can Do at Home

Not all improvement happens during training sessions. In fact, some of the biggest progress we see at AFC Whyteleafe Youth comes from the small habits players build at home.

The good news? It doesn’t need to be complicated or time-consuming.

Here’s a simple 10-minute routine players can try in the garden, at the park, or even indoors with a bit of space.

The 10-Minute Routine

  • 2 minutes: Toe taps (light, quick touches on top of the ball)

  • 2 minutes: Inside-out touches (using both feet)

  • 2 minutes: Sole rolls (side to side control)

  • 2 minutes: Weak foot only (simple touches and control)

  • 2 minutes: Freestyle (be creative and have fun with the ball)

Why This Helps

These small exercises build confidence on the ball and improve control in tight spaces. Players who are comfortable with the ball at their feet tend to make quicker decisions and feel more confident during matches and training.

Keep It Simple and Consistent

The key isn’t doing everything perfectly—it’s doing a little bit often. Just 10 minutes a few times a week can make a noticeable difference over time.

At AFC Whyteleafe Youth, we always encourage players to enjoy their football, and this is a great way to keep improving while having fun.
